Remove scrolling totally on a website

Issue:
Asp.net controls on the website took up more space than 100% width and caused the website to add scrollbars. This did not play well with the static footer I had applied to the page.

Solution:
Rather than adding the CSS attribute overflow:hidden; to any div element I added it to the html itself:

html {
overflow: hidden;
}
